Raisin Crisscross Cookies

Ingredients

  • 12 c shortening
  • 34 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 12 tsp lemon extract
  • 1 tsp milk
  • 1 34 c sifted self-rising flour
  • 12 c coarsely ground or chopped raisins or nuts

Directions

  1. Mix together first 3 ingredients
  2. Stir in next 2 ingredients Stir in last 2 ingredients
  3. Roll into balls the size of a small walnut
  4. Place balls about 3 inches apart on greased baking sheet
  5. Flatten with a fork dipped in flour making a crisscross pattern
  6. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in a moderate oven 350 to 375 no more
  7. Makes about 50 cookies
