Raspberry Crisscross Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 c flour
  • 12 c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c butter
  • 2 eggs beaten with 14 c milk
  • 2 c jelly or jam
  • 12 c nuts

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients cut in shortening as for pie
  2. Add eggs and milk
  3. Keep 14 of dough out
  4. Spread rest on 10 x 15-inch cake tin
  5. Press dough well up along side of pan
  6. Spread with jam Sprinkle with nuts
  7. Pinch off pieces of reserved dough with palms of hands and make 12-inch strips
  8. Place on top for crisscross at 1 12 inches apart
  9. Bake at 350 to 375 for 45 minutes
  10. Let cool in pan
  11. Cut with sharp knife in center of each strip so that each piece has dough around
  12. Sprinkle with powdered sugar
