Red Cabbage - German StyleSweet And Sour
Ingredients
- 3 34 lb red cabbage
- 12 c vinegar
- 8 whole cloves
- 2 big bay leaves
- 12 c Crisco
- 1 medium onion sliced thin
- 2 apples
- 34 c sugar
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 2 c boiling water
Directions
- Cut cabbage in half and slice thin
- Place in a large kettle of boiling water for 10 minutes
- Drain
- Put cabbage back in pot and add all other ingredients
- Pour the boiling water on last Bring all to a boil and simmer for 2 to 3 hours
- Be sure to use a close-fitting lid
