Red Cake

Ingredients

  • 12 c shortening
  • 1 12 c sugar white
  • 2 eggs
  • 14 c red food coloring
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c buttermilk or sour milk
  • 2 14 c flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 tsp vinegar

Directions

  1. Cream shortening sugar and eggs until smooth
  2. Then combine food coloring cocoa and salt to make a paste
  3. Add this to shortening mixture
  4. Then add flour milk and vanilla beat until smooth
  5. Remove from mixer and fold in vinegar and soda
  6. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350
