Red DevilS Food Cake

Ingredients

• 12 c butter
• 2 eggs
• 1 heaping tsp soda
• 23 c cocoa dissolved in 12 c boiling water
• 14 tsp salt
• 2 c sugar
• 1 c sour milk or buttermilk
• 2 12 c sifted flour
• 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

1. Cream butter slowly add sugar
2. Cream thoroughly
3. Add well beaten eggs and soda dissolved in a little hot water and cocoa mixed with a little hot water
4. Alternately add sour milk and flour
5. Mix to smooth batter
6. Add vanilla
7. Bake in moderate oven 35 to 40 minutes
