Red Velvet Cocoa Cake

Ingredients

  • 12 c butter or margarine
  • 1 12 c sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp red food color
  • 2 c unsifted flour
  • 14 c Hersheys cocoa
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 c buttermilk or sour milk
  • 1 12 tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • Fluffy Vanilla frosting

Directions

  1. Cream butter sugar and vanilla in a large mixer bowl
  2. Add eggs and food color blend
  3. Combine flour cocoa and salt add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture
  4. Stir baking soda into vinegar fold carefully into batter do not beat
  5. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch pans
  6. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean Cool 10 minutes
  7. Remove from pans
