Rye Bread
Ingredients
- 1 pkg yeast dissolved in 12 c water and 1 tsp sugar
- 1 c water
- 1 c milk
- 12 c sugar
- 12 c shortening
- 2 c milk
- salt
- 1 Tbsp molasses
- 2 c rye flour
- 8 c white flour
Directions
- In mixing bowl dissolve yeast and sugar in 12 cup water Scald 1 cup water milk sugar and shortening
- Mix remaining ingredients and let rise 1 hour or until double in bulk
- Punch down and let rise again
- Knead each loaf before putting in pans Let rise 1 hour
- Bake at 400 for 15 minutes and reduce oven to 350 and bake additional 45 minutes
