San Francisco Pork Chops

San Francisco Pork Chops

Ingredients

  • 4 pork chops 12 to 34-inch thick
  • 1 Tbsp oil plus 2 tsp oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 4 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 14 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp dry sherry or broth
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water

Directions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in skillet
  2. Brown chops on both sides Remove and add more oil if needed
  3. Saute garlic being careful not to burn
  4. Combine oil sherrybroth soy sauce brown sugar and red pepper for sauce
  5. Place chops in skillet and pour sauce over them Cover tightly
  6. Simmer over low heat until chops are tender and cooked through 30 to 35 minutes
  7. Add water 1 to 2 tablespoons at a time to prevent sauce from cooking down
  8. Remove chops to platter
  9. Stir cornstarch in water
  10. Cook until thickened
  11. Pour over chops and serve
  12. Goes good with hot cooked noodles or rice Serves 4
