Sauerbraten Patties
Ingredients
- 2 slices dry white bread cut in 12-inch cubes
- 34 c hot water
- 1 to 1 12 lb ground beef
- 1 onion minced
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 14 tsp pepper
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 13 c vinegar
- 1 c water
- 5 whole cloves
- 3 bay leaves
- 6 gingersnaps crumbled
Directions
- Soften bread in water
- Add beef onion egg salt and pepper and mix thoroughly
- Form into patties
- Brown on both sides in butter in heavy skillet
- Mix remaining ingredients
- Pour over meat
- Cook covered on low heat for 30 to 40 minutes
