Sauerbraten Sour Beef Pot Roast
Ingredients
- 4 lb beef chuck round or rump
- 1 onion sliced
- 3 bay leaf
- 2 tsp spices
Directions
- Place meat vinegar spices and onion in bowl and refrigerate overnight longer if need be
- Place in iron pot and brown meat on all side
- Meanwhile strain vinegar and water and pour over brown roast and proceed to cook the same as pot roast 2 to 3 hours Take meat out and keep warm
- Add raisins and gingersnaps in 8 pot liquid
- Gingersnaps will thicken the gravy
- Add more crackers if you like a thicker gravy
- Slice meat and serve with the gravy Potato Rolls or noodles and red cabbage
