Sauerbraten Sour Beef Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • 4 lb beef chuck round or rump
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 3 bay leaf
  • 2 tsp spices

Directions

  1. Place meat vinegar spices and onion in bowl and refrigerate overnight longer if need be
  2. Place in iron pot and brown meat on all side
  3. Meanwhile strain vinegar and water and pour over brown roast and proceed to cook the same as pot roast 2 to 3 hours Take meat out and keep warm
  4. Add raisins and gingersnaps in 8 pot liquid
  5. Gingersnaps will thicken the gravy
  6. Add more crackers if you like a thicker gravy
  7. Slice meat and serve with the gravy Potato Rolls or noodles and red cabbage
