Sausage-Bread Stuffing

Ingredients

• 1 lb sausage links
• 1 c diced bacon
• 1 large onion chopped
• 1 c chopped celery
• 12 lb fresh mushrooms sliced
• 2 red skinned apples cored and diced
• 1 c chopped parsley
• 1 tsp sage
• 1 tsp thyme
• 1 loaf 1 lb firm type white bread cut in 1-inch cubes
• 2 c chicken broth
• salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1. In a large skillet fry the sausage and bacon until crisp and brown
2. Remove sausage and cut into 1-inch pieces
3. Replace in skillet and add onion celery mushrooms apples parsley and herbs
4. Saute stirring occasionally for 5 minutes
5. Stir in bread cubes and chicken broth
6. Season to taste with salt and pepper
