Scotch Raisin Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 c buttermilk
  • 23 c molasses
  • 3 c flour sifted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c oatmeal not instant
  • 12 c nuts chopped
  • 1 c raisins

Directions

  1. Beat eggs until light
  2. Add sugar gradually beating until fluffy
  3. Add molasses and buttermilk mix well
  4. Sift together flour salt baking powder and baking soda
  5. Add to egg mixture and mix well
  6. Add oatmeal nuts and raisins
  7. Stir only until blended
  8. Bake at 350 for 1 hour
  9. Store 1 day before slicing
