Scotch Scones
Ingredients
- 2 c flour
- 12 c sugar
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp soda
- 34 tsp salt
- 12 c butter
- 12 c sour milk or buttermilk
Directions
- Sift dry ingredients together
- Blend in butter
- Add sour milk
- Turn out onto floured board
- Pat or roll gently to 12 to 1-inch thick in a rectangle about 4 x 8 inches
- Cut in 16 triangles
- Place on baking sheet
- Brush with egg wash
- Bake in hot oven 400 about 15 minutes
- Makes 16 scones
