Scotch Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 12 c sugar
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 34 tsp salt
  • 12 c butter
  • 12 c sour milk or buttermilk

Directions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together
  2. Blend in butter
  3. Add sour milk
  4. Turn out onto floured board
  5. Pat or roll gently to 12 to 1-inch thick in a rectangle about 4 x 8 inches
  6. Cut in 16 triangles
  7. Place on baking sheet
  8. Brush with egg wash
  9. Bake in hot oven 400 about 15 minutes
  10. Makes 16 scones
