Ingredients

  • 3 12 c sifted all-purpose flour 1 Kings 422

  • 1 12 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 tsp nutmeg
  • 12 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground allspice 1 Kings 102
  • 1 c butter softened Judges 525
  • 2 c firmly packed brown sugar Jeremiah 620
  • 2 Tbsp honey Exodus 1631
  • 6 eggs Luke 1112
  • 1 8 oz pkg pitted dates chopped Deuteronomy 343
  • 2 c raisins 1 Samuel 3012
  • 1 c walnuts chopped Solomon 611
  • 1 c milk Judges 525

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325
  2. Grease and flour a 10 x 4-inch angel cake tube pan
  3. Sift flour baking powder salt cinnamon nutmeg cloves and allspice onto wax paper
  4. Beat the butter sugar honey and eggs in a large bowl with an electric mixer until they are light and fluffy about 3 minutes
  5. Sprinkle 14 cup of the flour mixture over the fruits and nuts
  6. Add remaining flour mixture alternately with the milk to the fluffy butter mixture beating until smooth
  7. Stir in fruits and nuts
  8. Spoon into prepared pan Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the top springs back when lightly touched with fingertips
  9. Cool pan on wire rack for 20 minutes loosen around edge and tube with a knife
  10. Turn out on rack cool completely
  11. Wrap in foil or plastic
  12. Cake slices best the next day
