Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 14 tsp cream of tartar
  • 34 c sugar

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 275
  2. Cover baking sheet with heavy brown paper Beat egg whites
  3. Add cream of tartar and beat until foamy
  4. Beat in sugar one teaspoon at a time until stiff and glossy
  5. Do not underbeat
  6. On brown paper shape meringue into 9-inch circle building up sides
  7. Bake 1 12 hours
  8. Turn off oven
  9. Leave in oven with door closed for 1 hour
  10. Finish cooling out of oven away from draft
  11. Put on plate and fill with strawberries and ice cream
  12. Top with Cool Whip
