Silver And Gold Cake

Ingredients
- 12 c butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 Tbsp milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- few drops lemon extract
- 1 14 c sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 c cake flour
- 14 tsp salt
- 12 c chopped nuts
Directions
- Preheat oven to 325
- Cream butter with 12 cup sugar and vanilla
- Add egg yolks beating well
- Stir in milk
- Sift flour baking powder and salt together
- Gradually add to batter
- Add extract
- Pour into greased and floured 9-inch square pan
- Beat egg whites until frothy
- Gradually add remaining 34 cup sugar until meringue holds its shape
- Fold in nuts
- Spread over batter sprinkle with a little granulated sugar and bake 30 minutes
- Cool before cutting
