Sour Cream Doughnuts
Ingredients
- enough shortening for frying
- 3 12 c all-purpose flour
- 1 14 tsp salt
- 1 whole egg plus 2 yolks
- 1 c sour cream
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp soda
- 34 tsp nutmeg
- 1 c sugar
Directions
- Put enough shortening into deep frying kettle to fry doughnuts Sift flour add salt baking powder soda and nutmeg
- Beat eggs Add sugar and beat
- Add sour cream
- Add to dry mixture
- Remove 12 of dough to pastry cloth
- Roll about 14-inch thick
- Cut with doughnut cutter
- Fry in hot shortening 370
- Drain
- Roll in powdered sugar or dip in doughnut glaze
