Spice Nut Cake

Ingredients

• 2 c all-purpose flour
• 1 c sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 34 tsp ground cloves
• 34 tsp ground cinnamon
• 23 c oil shortening
• 34 c brown sugar
• 1 c buttermilk
• 3 eggs
• 1 c chopped walnuts
• 1 tsp baking soda

Directions

1. In mixing bowl combine flour sugar salt baking powder soda cloves and cinnamon
2. Add shortening brown sugar and buttermilk
3. Mix until all flour is moistened
4. Beat 2 minutes add eggs
5. Beat 2 minutes more stir in nuts
6. Place in 9 x 13-inch pan
7. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes
8. Cool 10 minutes Frost with Orange Butter Frosting
