Sponge Gingerbread

Ingredients

  • 12 c sugar
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 c molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 c flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c boiling water

Directions

  1. Cream butter and sugar
  2. Add molasses and egg
  3. Sift together ginger cinnamon and flour
  4. Blend into molasses mixture Dissolve soda in boiling water
  5. Add to mixture batter will be runny
  6. Bake in greased pan at 325 for 20 to 30 minutes
