Strawberry Upside-Down Cake
Ingredients
- 34 c butter or margarine
- sugar
- 1 pt strawberries washed and hulled
- 1 tsp grated lemon rind
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 egg
- 1 12 sifted flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 12 tsp salt
- 12 c milk
Directions
- Melt 14 cup butter in 9-inch square pan
- Mix 12 cup butter add 12 cup sugar and beat until light
- Add egg and beat well Sift flour baking powder and salt and add to first mixture with milk beating until smooth
- Carefully spread on berries
- Bake in oven 375 about 30 minutes
- Let stand 10 minutes turn out on serving dish
- Serve at once with cream if desired
