Stuffed Cabbage Leaves

Ingredients

  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 34 lb ground veal
  • 34 lb ground beef
  • 4 Tbsp grated onion
  • 12 c butter
  • 1 12 c cooked rice
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 3 c canned tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Combine meats and saut with onion in butter until lightly browned Add rice dill thyme salt and pepper and mix well Place cabbage leaves in boiling water for 1 minute Drain and pat dry Spoon meat mixture on center of leaves fold over envelope fashion and secure with toothpicks Place in greased shallow baking dish pour tomato sauce over cover and bake in a slow oven 325 for 45 minutes Serves 6
