Sunburst Chiffon Cake
Ingredients
- 2 c sifted flour
- 1 12 c sugar
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 12 c oil
- 7 unbeaten egg yolks
- 34 c water
- 3 Tbsp grated orange rind
- 1 c egg whites 7 or 8
- 12 tsp cream of tartar
Directions
- Sift together the flour sugar baking powder and salt
- Add oil egg yolks water and orange rind
- Beat with mixing spoon until smooth
- In mixer bowl combine egg whites and cream of tartar beat until very stiff and makes firm peaks
- Fold egg yolk mixture into whites with rubber spatula
- Pour into greased tube pan
- Bake 55 minutes at 325 then 10 to 15 minutes at 350 Invert pan on funnel until cold
