Swedish Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 23 c sugar
  • 12 tsp baking powder
  • 34 c butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix together butter egg and vanilla
  2. Then add flour sugar and baking powder
  3. Mix well
  4. Place dough on lightly floured board
  5. Divide into 4 parts
  6. Shape each into a roll 12 inches long and 12-inch thick
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheets 4 inches apart and 2 inches from edges of sheet
  8. Make a depression 14 inch deep the length of the roll with finger
  9. Fill with jam or jelly 13 cup in all
  10. Bake at 350 for 15 to 20 minutes
  11. Slice while still warm but after jelly has set
