Sweet And Sour Steak

Ingredients

  • 2 lb steak 23 or 34-inch thick
  • 1 Tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 18 tsp pepper
  • 18 tsp dry mustard
  • 2 tsp minced onion
  • 12 c water
  • 3 Tbsp vinegar
  • 11 oz can mandarin orange sections
  • 1 small can pineapple chunks reserving 3 Tbsp liquid
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

Directions

  1. Brown steak on both sides in oil in frying pan
  2. Combine salt pepper dry mustard minced onion water and vinegar and pour over steak
  3. Cover tightly and cook about 1 12 hours over low heat Drain orange sections and pineapple chunks reserving 3 tablespoons liquid and blend in brown sugar and cornstarch
  4. Put steak on platter to keep warm
  5. Put fruit and sugar mixture in pan with drippings and cook 2 or 3 minutes
  6. Pour over meat and serve
