Sweet N Sour Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

  • 5 c shredded raw cabbage
  • 1 14 tsp salt
  • 4 slices bacon chopped
  • 2 Tbsp flour
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 12 c beer
  • 14 c vinegar
  • dash of pepper
  • 1 small onion sliced

Directions

  1. Cook the cabbage in 1 cup water and 1 teaspoon salt for 7 minutes
  2. Remove from heat drain well and place in a 1-quart casserole
  3. Fry the chopped onion until crisp remove from pan and set aside
  4. Blend the flour and brown sugar into the bacon drippings in the pan
  5. Stir in the beer and vinegar
  6. Add pepper 14 teaspoon salt and the onion cook lightly until onion is limp
  7. Return the chopped bacon to the mixture
  8. Pour this sweet-sour mixture over the cabbage and cook about 10 minutes in a 350 oven
  9. Makes 4 servings
