Sweet Nut Braid

Ingredients

  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 12 c warm water
  • 13 c butter
  • 13 c sugar
  • 2 12 tsp salt
  • 1 c scalded milk
  • 2 unbeaten eggs
  • 5 to 5 12 c flour
  • 14 c butter
  • 1 12 c confectioners sugar
  • 1 12 tsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 14 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 c nuts chopped

Directions

  1. Soften yeast in water
  2. Combine 13 cup butter sugar salt and milk
  3. Stir to melt butter
  4. Cool to lukewarm
  5. Stir in eggs and yeast
  6. Gradually add flour to form stiff dough
  7. Knead 5 to 8 minutes
  8. Cover let rise about 1 12 hours
