Sweet Onion Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Vidalia sweet onions peeled and sliced
  • 14 c dry white wine or sherry
  • 3 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp chives
  • 12 tsp dry mustard
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 1 c milk
  • 12 c sour cream
  • 1 c shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

  1. Combine onions wine and butter in 2-quart covered dish Cook on High 100 power for 10 to 12 minutes or until tender stirring once halfway through cooking time
  2. Stir in flour and seasonings
  3. Cook on High 100 power for 30 seconds
  4. Slowly stir in milk and sour cream
  5. Cook on High 100 power for 4 to 6 minutes or until thickened
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese over top Cook on Medium 50 power for 4 to 6 minutes or until cheese melts
  7. Serves 8
