Sweet Pickles
Ingredients
- 2 gal sliced cucumbers
- 1 pt canning salt
- 8 lb granulated sugar
- 2 qt vinegar
- handful pickling spice in cheesecloth
Directions
- Put sliced cucumbers in crock
- Boil 1 gallon water and 1 pint canning salt and pour over cucumbers Let stand 1 week Drain water off
- Pour 1 gallon of boiling water over cucumbers Let stand 24 hours and then drain
- Mix the granulated sugar vinegar and pickling spice
- Let come to a boil and pour over cucumbers Do this 4 times with same ingredients
- The fifth time bring to a boil with same ingredients again
- Pour over cucumbers that are placed in jars and seal
