Tomato Catsup
Ingredients
- tomatoes enough to make 1 gal when cooked
- 12 c sugar
- 1 pt cider vinegar
- 2 Tbsp ground allspice
- 3 Tbsp salt
- 1 Tbsp black pepper
- 12 Tbsp ground cloves
Directions
- Select good firm ripe tomatoes scald and strain through a coarse sieve to remove seed and skin
- When cold add to each gallon tomatoes the other ingredients let simmer slowly for 3 hours
- Seal in bottles or jars
