Travelin Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

• 1 12 c diced dates
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 c plus 3 Tbsp hot water
• 1 c sugar
• 1 c butter or margarine 2 sticks
• 2 eggs beaten
• 12 tsp salt
• 2 c flour
• 1 Tbsp cocoa
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 c chocolate chips
• 12 c chopped nuts

4. Placedates in small bowl and sprinkle with baking

7. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes to plump dates
8. In large mixing bowl cream sugar and butter
9. margarine
10. together
11. Add
12. eggs and beat well again Sift
13. flour
14. salt and cocoa together
15. Add dry ingredients to sugarbutter
16. mixture
17. in small amounts alternating with date mix
18. Add
19. vanilla and mix well
20. Fold in 12 cup of chocolate chips
