Vienna Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 c lukewarm water
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 12 tsp salt
  • 3 Tbsp olive or vegetable oil
  • 9 to 10 c flour

Directions

  1. Combine lukewarm water sugar and yeast in bowl
  2. Let stand 15 minutes
  3. Add salt and oil mix
  4. Gradually add flour
  5. Mix well Knead until smooth on floured board
  6. Place in greased bowl and let rise until doubled
  7. Punch down and let rise again
  8. Cut into 3 pieces
  9. Let rise again 15 minutes
  10. Shape into long loaves and place on greased cookie sheets sprinkled with cornmeal
  11. Cover with towel and let rise in warm place until doubled
  12. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes at 350
