Walnut Christmas Toffee

Ingredients

  • 1 c butter
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 Tbsp white corn syrup
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 1 12 c chopped walnuts
  • 1 6 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Butter a 9-inch square pan
  2. Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan Stir in sugar gradually
  3. Add syrup and water cook over moderate heat stirring occasionally to 290 on candy thermometer add 1 cup of the nuts
  4. Cook 3 minutes more stirring constantly
  5. Pour into pan
  6. When cold remove from pan
  7. Melt chocolate over hot water
  8. Coat one side of toffee sprinkle with chopped nuts
  9. Allow to set for a minute or so
  10. Flip over on waxed paper and repeat Break into bite size pieces
  11. Makes 1 34 pounds
