Walnut Scone Drops With Mock Devonshire Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 14 tsp baking soda
  • 23 to 34 c buttermilk
  • 14 c sugar
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 13 c butter or margarine
  • 12 c chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375
  2. Grease cookie sheets
  3. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup level off
  4. In a large bowl combine flour sugar baking powder salt and baking soda blend well
  5. Using fork or pastry blender cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  6. Add buttermilk and walnuts lightly stir just until dry ingredients are moistened
  7. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets
  8. Bake at 375 for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown
  9. Immediately remove from cookie sheets
  10. Serve warm
  11. Makes 30
