White BreadQuick Method
Ingredients
- 2 c milk
- 5 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp salt
- 2 cakes yeast
- 2 c warm water
- 12 to 13 c sifted flour
- 5 Tbsp melted shortening
Directions
- Scald milk
- Add sugar and salt cool to lukewarm
- Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and add to milk
- Add half of flour and beat until smooth
- Add melted shortening and remaining flour or enough to make easy handled dough
- Knead quickly and lightly until smooth and elastic
- Place dough in greased bowl cover and set in a warm place
- Let rise until double in bulk divide into 4 equal portions and shape into loaves
- Place in greased loaf pans Bake in 425 oven for 15 minutes then reduce heat to 350 for 30 minutes longer
