Whole Wheat Lasagna

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 medium can tomato halves
  • 1 medium can tomato paste
  • 2 large boxes lasagna noodles preferably whole wheat
  • 1 12 to 2 pt small curd cottage cheese
  • 4 large pkg Mozzarella cheese strips or shredded

Directions

  1. Brown beef and onion in large saucepan drain grease
  2. Salt and pepper to taste and add all spices sugar garlic powder and Italian seasoning
  3. Add tomato wedges tomato paste and 1 can water
  4. Simmer 30 minutes
  5. Boil noodles according to box dont over boil
  6. Drain
  7. Make layers starting with 1 thin layer of sauce 4 noodles laid lengthwise layer of sauce layer of cottage cheese layer of Mozzarella cheese noodles sauce cottage cheese Mozzarella sauce noodles sauce cottage cheese Mozzarella and last 2 or 3 tablespoons Parmesan
  8. Bake at 350 until cheese really bubbles about 45 minutes to 1 hour
  9. Serve with tossed salad and garlic bread
