Williamsburg Tea Bread
Ingredients
- 12 lb dates halved
- 12 lb pecans coarsely chopped
- 34 c flour
- 12 tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 34 c sugar
- pinch of salt
- 12 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Set oven at 300
- Beat eggs and sugar together until creamy Add flour salt and baking powder
- Stir in dates nuts and vanilla by hand
- Spoon into greased 9 12 x 4 12
- x 2 14-inch loaf pan
- Cover with foil and bake on middle shelf for 1 12 hours
- Increase heat to 325 remove foil and bake another 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into middle of the cake
- Turn out and cool completely before slicing
